Pediatric Sedation Dentistry – Sedation for Children

Kids Rock Pediatric Dentistry knows children can form anxiety when coming to the dentist which can make it hard for them to relax during a dental procedure. We understand if your child is anxious, you as parents can become anxious also. It is our goal to provide your child with a relaxing environment, in which they are comfortable and can trust coming to the dentist. Our experienced team may recommend a form of pediatric sedation dentistry for kids with anxiety. Providing sedation for children may be beneficial for the following children:

  • Very young age
  • Highly apprehensive
  • Extensive dental needs
  • Special needs children
Our dentists and our team at Kids Rock Pediatric Dentistry are professionally trained to identify when your child might require sedation. We encourage parents who want to know if this is the right method to take with your child, to come in and ask talk to us. We strive to help parents make the best possible decision for their children and communication is key to ensure that has been made. Kids Rock Pediatric Dentistry offers multiple sedation methods for your child:

  • Nitrous Oxide
  • Conscious (Oral) Sedation
  • General Anesthesia

Each method has different benefits and are used for different situations. Conscious sedation, in which your child will remain awake, is usually better in situations where the child has developed severe anxiety. Nitrous Oxide, one of the safest methods, will help relax a child during a procedure. Sometimes if a more serious procedure is taking place, general anesthesia may be required. Our team is highly trained in pediatric sedation dentistry. We have several options for general anesthesia including hospitals – Memorial, St. Francis, Audubon Outpatient Surgical Center and Care Point.
